English 4 Amharic Speakers

   

 

This is a multimedia program plus four audio CDs that will teach any Amharic speaker the English language. It is the first of its kind and it will teach you important and often used English phrases and words in a very short time. It is three tools in one: a computer program, audio CDs, and flash cards to reinforce all that you have learned.

 
 


English for Amharic Speakers is a PC based computer program that will teach English to Amharic speakers. It is an interactive multimedia program that requires very little knowledge of computers.

 


There are four audio CDs included in the package that you can use on any CD player. They contain over 2000 phrases and words both in English and Amharic. Use these while driving or when you are away from your computer.

 


The package also includes a set of flash cards. This flash cards have an Amharic phrase on one side, and the translation in English on the other. The phonetic form is also on the card in Amharic.

This program covers the most important and essential phrases/words that you will need to know in English. There are thirteen major topics covered in both the computer program and audio CDs. Once you master these topics, you should be able to do the following:

   
  • Know how to greet people and say farewells properly.
  • Be able to give personal information and inquire about the person.
  • Ask simple questions.
  • Ask for and give directions.
  • Know what to say when you are at the:
    • airport
    bank
    • hospital
    • hair dresser / barber
    post office
  • Know what to say when checking in and out of hotels or just need room service
  • Go out to a restaurant and order meals -even better, know what you are ordering!
  • Know what to say when answering the phone or taking messages.
  • Basic words and simple expressions that you should know
  • Giving orders
  • Asking for help and assistance in an emergency.
 

Expand your vocabulary base. There is a whole lesson dedicated to teaching you various vocabulary words. The categories include: colors, numbers, calendar, various professions names of domestic and wild animals, family structure, house items (including objects found in various rooms of a home), men and women clothing, human anatomy, car parts, and food in general.

 
   
 English For Amharic Speakers can help people of all ages and educational background who want to learn English. You can be a school kid who wants to improve your English skills or improve your accent, or an elder parent who is traveling abroad visiting their kids. It will also help those that have studied the language in school but never got a chance to practice it ... here is your chance.

There is a Quiz section with multiple question, True/False, Matching, and Fill in the Blank questions for all Main Topics that you will learn in this program. Most of the vocabulary quiz questions are presented more as a game rather than mind-boggling exam to make the learning simple and fun. Writing & Reading Amharic

   

Writing & Reading Amharic is a one of a kind book that teaches the beautiful art of Amharic writing. It also teaches the correct pronunciation of the Amharic alphabet using a unique approach developed by the authors of Amharic Language Multimedia Series (Writing & Reading Amharic through 104). In addition to this, you will learn new vocabulary words in Amharic.

  • Learn the correct Pronunciation of the Amharic alphabet using two different methods
  • Learn how to write in Amharic using simple guides
  • Learn new vocabulary words

 

Here is a short explanation of how this book is arranged. To the left, we have a page torn out of the book. The left page of each page looks similar to this. On the right side of the page, you get to practice writing out the alphabets. If you run out of space, you can order refill pages from our safe and secure web site(that will simply snap in). The page to the left means the following:

  1. Typed or printed

  2. Pronunciation guide which is described in detail with examples on Page 3

  3. Handwritten Amharic. Used as an example to improve your penmanship. Remember that this is only one person's way of writing

  4. Commentary notes by the authors

  5. Writing guide. The pen indicates where to start, and what motion to follow without raising your pen/pencil from the paper

  6. Words that include the alphabet that you are studying. This will help you learn new Amharic words.

  7. Another way of learning the correct pronunciation of each Amharic alphabet

Writing & Reading AMHARIC is a soft cover booklet with 80 pages. You can purchase refill pages separately. Though this is a stand-alone book, it will help you greatly when you start learning how to write in Amharic 102.
